What is your biggest house cleaning challenge?

In order to help you with the often overwhelming task of housecleaning, I'd like to know what your specific cleaning challenges are. Do you hate cleaning the bathroom? Is the laundry what you dread? Or how about dishes?

Please let me know! :)

My biggest challenge is keeping up with the laundry. For some reason the laundry is a bottomless pit! I do a minimum of 3 loads a day, 6 days a week. And yes, we use every single piece of clothing we own!!

Doing it every day so that it doesn't build up and then take "forever" to get clean.

I downloaded an article on how to get the entire bathroom clean in just 15 minutes. My master bath never takes less than 30 minutes...and I don't clean every thing every time. The article's author apparently cleans so often that she needs little more than a quick swipe over all surfaces!

Kira,

Is it possible that your standard of cleanliness is too high? A Cal Tech scholar (sorry, I can't recall the book title or her name at the moment) found that modern technology did not reduce a housekeeper's workload because standards went ridiculously up. Homemakers used to sweep rugs once a month; the vacuum cleaner (and wall-to-wall carpeting) made them think that they had to "sweep" every day.

Similarly, before the invention of the washing machine, folks wore their clothes for days or weeks before bothering to get them cleaned. In fact, felted clothes, which fall apart in water, were never washed; they were used--stains and all--until completely worn out and unusable.

Free yourself from the tyranny of Mount Washmore! Insist that your family wear their clothes more than once before tossing 'em into the laundry basket. The only exceptions are socks, underwear, and sweaty/stained clothes. Also insist that towels be hung up to dry and used again. Unless your family does not actually wash themselves in the bath/shower, towels stay clean for at least several uses.

Good luck!

My office! It's a disaster area! It's the smallest room in the hoouse. Approx 10ft x 11ft so you'd think it would be the easiest room in the house to keep clean. Nope! The floor and Every piece of furtunire is holding, hobby supplies, Office supplies, work papers, books, things with no place at all, and items that are only used once on special occasions, or that my husband doesn't want to get rid of, for whatever reason. My biggest problem is that I don't seem to be able to sort out a work space that easy to maintain in this small space. I've reoganized this space about 5 or 6 times and it hasn't made it any easier to keep things together, get thing out, or put things away.

Sorry for the double comment posts, I thought I had hit preview, to check and correct typos the first time, but I guess I hit publish instead. :)
